Dear All:
I write to let you know that we have decided to cancel the parity review on 12th August as originally planned in the course outline. The reasons are:
1, Since we are still running the Brownbag lecture series, we have five hours studio time. If we use three hours for the individual group review and two hours for the whole class parity panel review, none of them can be done properly.
2, The purpose of this submission is for the studio masters to do a thorough check on your progress. Our deliberation (we only issue ‘satisfactory’ or ‘unsatisfactory’ this time) shall indicate whether or not we as the tutor have the confidence that the student may pass this course. ‘Unsatisfactory’ is a warning that the student shall consider withdrawing from the course at this point. So I believe we need the entire five hours to do a proper job.
3, The whole class parity review will make more sense when we have the next submission (23rd September). Any recollection of this review from the panel will be a useful preamble for the final parity review when we determine the final marks (11th November).
